Usually implants are not placed until we are sure you are through growing, which for males usually is later than 16. Your general dentist who sees you regularly, and I am assuming recommended the extraction of teeth, should have a better idea due to their history with you. If you are going to lose teeth you can always utilize a temporary until you have stopped growing.

Age 16 is a little young for implants. The bone may still be growing and cause problems in the future. A nice looking temporary replacement to wear for a few years can be made. The best way to give you a responsible opinion is to see you for an examination. Please call the office for an appointment.

It depends. If you have finished growing you are not too young.

Dear Patient, Because you are 16, your body is still in the phase of growth. At the age of 19 you will be able to proceed with dental implants, provided that all factors considered ( i.e. you have sufficient bone in the area of implants, have no medical problems that would contradict dental implant placement) are conducive to dental implant placement. In the meantime, your general dentist may fabricate either a fixed / non-removable or removable temporary prosthesis for esthetics until you are ready for implants.
